The President

The President is appointed by the Great and General Council, serves a five-year term, and is eligible for re-election for one additional term.

The President represents the Central Bank legally, convenes and chairs the Governing Council and the General Meeting of Members. In urgent matters, the President has the authority to pass resolutions, initiate legal or administrative actions, and defend actions brought against the Central Bank.

At its meeting on April 24, 2023, the Great and General Council, in accordance with Article 13 of the Central Bank's Articles of Association, reappointed Ms. Catia Tomasetti, a lawyer, as Chairman of the Governing Council.

Education
She graduated cum laude in Law from the University of Bologna and holds a Troisième Cycle from the Institut des Hautes Études Internationales in Nice, along with a specialization from the College of Law in London.
She is licensed to practice law in both Italy and England & Wales.

Professional Experience.
She was a Partner at Allen & Overy, a leading magic circle firm in London, where she coordinated the project finance department in Italy.
Since 2011, she has been a partner at BonelliErede, one of Italy's top law firms, where she heads the Infrastructure, Energy, and Project Finance department. She has chaired banks and listed companies and has extensive experience in the legal, banking, finance, and management sectors.

Current assignments
Since May 9, 2018, she has served as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino.
