IBAN

The InternationalBank Account Number ( IBAN) is an international standard banking coordinate that uniquely identifies a customer's account in any currency with a bank.
As part of the San Marino payments system, since 2009, the Central Bank has made it mandatory to use the IBAN for all domestic transfers.
In line with international principles, regarding payment services, all payments to and from abroad, must also include:

  • the IBAN and all beneficiary data

  • the BIC-Swift code of the beneficiary's bank.

Swift has been designated by the Technical Management Board of ISO(International Organization for Standardization) as the Registration Authority for the ISO 13616 IBANformats standard.
Swift, at the request of the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino, has taken steps to publish a page dedicated to San Marino on the IBAN Registry; the page is available on the Swift web site.
