The President of the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino, with reference to the press release of April 15, 2019, concerning the criminal investigation in which she was under investigation in her capacity as President, announces that she has recently been notified of the decision to close the case. Following nearly two years of thorough and meticulous investigations, the appointed Legal Commissioner concluded that no criminal conduct was found to be attributable to her.
The decision to close the case is a positive outcome for both the President and the Central Bank. However, it does not remedy the public damage caused by the unjust media scrutiny, nor the harm inflicted on individuals and institutions that pursue public and systemic interests.
The President expresses her gratitude to those who have consistently supported her over the past few months, starting with the Board of Directors and the Staff of the Central Bank, as well as all the Sammarinese citizens who have sent messages of support and solidarity during this time.
Finally, the President hopes that San Marino, like other countries, will adopt regulations that allow all Authorities to focus on their objectives, without being diverted by the need to defend themselves against accusations arising from anonymous reports, behind which anyone could be hiding, including individuals who may seek to obstruct the pursuit of institutional goals.
