Press Conference: Installation of Defibrillators

Yesterday, the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino held a press conference regarding the installation of three defibrillators at the following locations:

  • the Central Headquarters at Via del Voltone n. 120;
  • the Treasury Department Headquarters at the SUMS Palace, Via Giovan Battista Belluzzi n. 3, near the Historic Center;
  • the Tax Collection Department Headquarters, in the La Ciarulla area, Strada Borrana 32, in Serravalle.

These installations were carried out in close collaboration with the leadership of the Institute for Social Security (ISS), particularly Dr. Sergio Rabini, Director of Healthcare and Socio-Healthcare Activities, Dr. Francesco Del Corso, Medical Director at the UOC Anesthesia and Intensive Care Department, and Dr. Marina Foscoli, President of the Sammarinese Society of Cardiology, in accordance with Law 197/2020 “Provisions on the Use of Semi-Automatic and Automatic Defibrillators in Non-Hospital Environments.” This law promotes the widespread use of these devices to reduce response times in the event of a cardiac arrest, even allowing non-medically trained individuals to use external semi-automatic defibrillators (AEDs) for resuscitation efforts.

This initiative aims to contribute concretely to the safety not only of employees and visitors but also of citizens and individuals who may need these devices near the Bank’s premises.

The project reflects the Institution’s social responsibility vision, aligning with international ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles. These principles go beyond the ethical and sustainable management of resources, extending to concrete commitments for social well-being, including people’s safety and health.

The Central Bank hopes that this initiative will inspire other organizations, including financial institutions, to contribute to the “cardio-protection” of our Republic.
