The Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino (BCSM) has established an annual initiative in memory of our colleague Barbara Brignani, who passed away prematurely in 2025. The initiative consists of an award named in her honor, worth 3,000 euros annually, to be awarded to the best thesis or the best unpublished research paper in fields related to her professional career.
For 2026, the selected theme and subject of the award is the field of accounting and administration.
The committee responsible for evaluating the submissions, which will make its decision at its sole discretion, will take the following criteria into account:
• Originality and degree of innovation;
• Methodological rigor and quality of research;
• Practical relevance in a business context;
• Clarity of presentation and consistency of content.
In addition to San Marino citizenship and/or residency, the requirements for participating in this initiative are: applicants must not have reached the age of 30 by the deadline for this call for applications and must have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree after June 30, 2025, or have produced a research paper that has not yet been published.
Submissions must be sent by November 15, 2026, to the email address premiobrb@bcsm.sm, specifying “Application for the Barbara Brignani Award” in the subject line. Applicants must also attach a summary of the text of no more than 1,000 words and a resume attesting to the aforementioned requirements.
Finally, applicants must confirm that they have read the Privacy Notice regarding the processing of personal data: Barbara Brignani Award Privacy Notice.
The documentation will be treated confidentially and will not be returned; the date and time of receipt, as recorded by BCSM, will serve as proof.
The Committee will respond to all applications received, and works deemed particularly meritorious—in addition to those of the winning candidates from previous years—may be published on the Bank’s website in the "Interventi” section.
