Fintech in micro-states: an opportunity for San Marino to become a "Titan"

The San Marino Banking Association (ABS) and the San Marino National Industry Association (ANIS), with the collaboration of the BNM Legal and Notary Firm, organized a series of seminars on "Finance and Industry Run Together in an Ethical Market."
The first event titled Fintech in Micro States: for San Marino the opportunity to become a "Titan" was held on May 26 in the presence of the Secretary of State for Finance and Budget, Hon. Marco Gatti, the Secretary of State for Industry, Handicrafts and Trade, Hon. Rossano Fabbri, and the Secretary of State for Labor, Hon. Alessandro Bevitori, and was attended by leading speakers who are experts in the economic, technological and legal fields.
The Director General of BCSM, Dr. Andrea Vivoli, in addressing an opening greeting at the opening of the conference, outlined the benefits that can be derived from the affirmation also in San Marino of the operational model that privileges the partnership between "traditional" banking and financial intermediaries with Fintech operators.
In a market context that is increasingly aligned with the principles ofopen banking andopen finance, the BCSM Director remarked how the ambition to develop a Fintech sector requires a series of pre-conditions of an infrastructural nature (availability of fast and stable connections, secure, efficient and open information systems) and regulatory-institutional nature (such as the creation of regulatory sandboxes ).
In the latter regard, BCSM's willingness to work with trade associations and financial operators to define an action plan dedicated to the development of the Fintech sector, having in mind international experiences and enhancing the best practices that have emerged, was reiterated.
