On December 15th, a delegation from the Central Bank, comprising the Managing Director and the Head of Supervisory Oversight – International Relations, attended the international conference "Toward a Consumer-Centric Insurance", held in Rome (https://www.ivass.it/pubblicazioni-e-statistiche/pubblicazioni/att-sem-conv/2023/15-12-conferenza-internazionale/index.html).
At the conference, organized by the Institute for insurance supervision (IVASS), Institutions, Supervisory Authorities, insurance market operators and consumer associations participated with the aim of examining and discussing the latest European legislative initiatives on the distribution of insurance products and the related supervisory tools to enhance consumer protection.
CBSM’s participation in the conference, attended upon IVASS’s invitation, provided an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the latest European regulatory developments, as well as the supervisory approach adopted by EIOPA and the respective national authorities.
The topics addressed and the in-depth analyses conducted are of particular significance, as the revision of San Marino’s sector-specific regulation is currently underway with the aim of achieving full alignment with the European regulatory framework in a short timeframe. This process also takes into account the integration path outlined in the Association Agreement between the Republic of San Marino and the European Union, the technical negotiations of which were concluded in recent weeks.
