IBAN

The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is a standard international bank code which univocally identifies a client’s account in any currency held by a bank.

Starting from 2009 in the payments system of the Republic of San Marino the use of IBAN is mandatory for all domestic credit transfers, pursuant to a regulation issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino.
In compliance with the international standards concerning payment services all payments from and to a foreign country are required to have:

  •
  • the IBAN and all beneficiary’s details
  • the BIC-Swift code of the beneficiary’s bank

The Swift Company has been appointed by the Technical Management Board of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) as the Registration Authority for the standard ISO 13616 IBAN formats.

The Swift Company, upon request by the Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino, has published a webpage, dedicated to San Marino about IBAN Registry which is available at the Swift website.
