In reference to the press reports dated July 18th regarding the non-disclosure by the Central Bank’s Tax Collection Department of information concerning unpaid social security contributions, it is emphasized that Article 89 of Law 70/2004 states that "Any information concerning the taxpayer [...] is covered by official secrecy" and that "The Tax Collection Service [...] is required to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and confidentiality of the information it holds regarding the debtor and their assets."
In light of the above, the Tax Collection Department remains fully committed to its collection activities, safeguarding the interests of taxpayers and the State, in full compliance with current regulations.
